Estudios estructurales, de desarrollo y de evolución de caracteres reproductivos en Cyperoideae (Cyperaceae)

Abstract

Cyperaceae se encuentra dividida en dos subfamilias: Mapanioideae y Cyperoideae. Cyperoideae incluye a más del 95% de las especies de la familia. Las flores en Cyperoideae están reunidas en espiguillas que en general integran inflorescencias compuestas. Aunque flores y frutos son de apariencia simple, representan estructuras complejas y poco estudiadas. El objetivo de este proyecto es realizar estudios de estructura y de desarrollo de flores y frutos en representantes de la subfamilia Cyperoideae (Cyperaceae), para construir una matriz de datos de caracteres homólogos y tender hipótesis de evolución de estas estructuras a lo largo de la filogenia de Cyperaceae. Como complemento de esta propuesta, se pretende realizar estudios de expresión génica que contribuyan desde un abordaje molecular, a la interpretación de homologías de órganos florales en Cyperoideae.

The flowers in Cyperoideae are gathered in spikelets that generally integrate compound inflorescences. Although flowers and fruits are simple in appearance, they represent complex and poorly studied structures. The aim of this project is to carry out studies on the structure and development of flowers and fruits in representatives of the Cyperoideae subfamily (Cyperaceae), to build a data matrix of homologous character and to hypothesize the evolution of these structures over the Cyperaceae phylogeny. As a complement to this proposal, we intend to carry out gene expression studies that contribute from a molecular approach to the interpretation of homologies of floral organs in Cyperoideae.
