Gestión sostenible del abastecimiento de agua potable en el barrio Cantiflas (Cuito - Bié, Angola)

Abstract

El abastecimiento de agua potable en el Municipio de Cuito es realizado por la Empresa Provincial de Agua y Saneamiento (EAS-BIÉ). Se cuenta solamente con una planta de tratamiento de agua potable, no dispone red de cloacas ni tampoco relleno sanitario y la red de distribución de agua potable no alcanza todos los barrios de Cuito. Este es el caso del barrio Cantinflas. La población usa el agua subterránea para la bebida, actividades domésticas y demás usos. La mayoría de los pozos son artesanales y también hay algunos revestidos de hormigón armado, los hay de carácter comunitario y particular. El presente trabajo pretende contribuir a mejorar las condiciones del acceso a agua potable en el Barrio Cantinflas a fin de garantizar la seguridad hídrica de la población. Se plantean un conjunto de lineamientos que se espera sirvan de base para que las autoridades locales lleven adelante un plan de gestión de los recursos hídricos que también pueda ser replicado en otros sectores de la ciudad de Cuito y oriente el desarrollo de futuros proyectos de ampliación de la red de agua potable.

Drinking water supply in the Municipality of Cuito is carried out by the Provincial Water and Sanitation Company (EAS-BIÉ). There is only one drinking water treatment plant, there is no sewage network and landfill, and the drinking water distribution network does not reach all neighborhoods of Cuito. This is the case of the Cantinflas neighborhood. The population uses groundwater for drinking, domestic activities and other uses. Most of the wells are artisanal, and there are also some ones with reinforced concrete both community and privately owned. The present work aims to contribute to improving the conditions of access to drinking water in the Cantinflas Neighborhood in order to ensure the water security of the population. A set of guidelines is proposed, which is expected to serve as a basis for local authorities to implement a water resource management plan that can also be replicated in other sectors of the city of Cuito and to guide the development of future projects for the expansion of the drinking water network.
