dc.description.abstract | In Argentina, goat breeding is widely spread and it is developed by the rural sector of small and medium- sized producers with marginal conditions and related to subsistence or economic marginality without professional advice. In the state of Santa Fe, goats are distributed throughout the provincial territory, with the highest concentration in the North Central region, with the San Cristóbal department being one of the most relevant due to its climatic and geographical conditions. The general aim in this proyect is to carry out a situational diagnosis of the productivity of livestock systems and diagnose the main pathologies that affect goats. These data will allow the design and proposal of strategies that optimize the available resources and contribute to the improvement of productivity and quality of production, the use of appropriate practices and technologies, revaluation of local genetic resources and therefore contribute to the welfare of goat farmers in the San Cristóbal department. Then, a minimum of 20 small and medium- scale goat livestock systems will be identified for the extraction of the respective blood and fecal samples for analysis. On the other hand, the characterization of animal genetic resources will be carried out in order to provide greater knowledge of production systems and thus making decisions related to the conservation of the best adapted resources. Information obtained will serve to propose alternatives more efficient of goat breeding under the One Health concept.
