Lenguaje y política en los cambios de siglo. Usos, circulación, Actores y espacios (XIX-XXI).

Abstract

Este proyecto se interesa por las relaciones existentes entre los lenguajes, la acción, las instituciones y las tradiciones políticas en dos coyunturas de la historia argentina -a las cuales por la entidad de sus transformaciones entendemos como “momento político-conceptual”-, temporalmente coincidentes con los cambios finiseculares que abren y cierran el siglo XX. Interesa indagar sobre los términos en los que estas relaciones se expresan, las funciones que cumple en el seno de la comunidad política el lenguaje -o los lenguajes- de los que se reviste la política, sus canteras y sus usos. En este interrogante el lugar de la contingencia es fundamental. Por una parte, en un registro temporal, delimitando como campo de estudio dos momentos finiseculares experimentados como críticos, no sólo en el plano nacional sino referenciados en los horizontes de importantes transformaciones de la realidad internacional: aquel que se extiende entre los coletazos de la gran depresión a la Gran Guerra en el marco de la crisis del liberalismo decimonónico; y el más contemporáneo que en el tránsito al siglo XXI se identifica con diversas dinámicas del fin del ciclo de consensos de la segunda posguerra a la construcción de proyectos políticos neoliberales. Por otra parte, la indagación atenderá a diferentes esferas de los procesos sociopolíticos, en sus aspectos tanto materiales como simbólicos, tomando como particulares puntos de interés para el estudio de la articulación entre lenguaje y política los siguientes: el sistema político, el Estado y el campo de las representaciones sociales construidas desde diversas esferas –desde aquella expresamente definida en términos políticos, como los partidos y sindicatos, a otros marcos de organización institucional de la acción colectiva, como los impulsados por la Iglesia, y aquellos que remiten al campo intelectual, al saber profesional y académico-.

This research project focuses on the relationships between language, action, institutions and political traditions at two junctures in Argentine history -which we understand as ‘political-conceptual moments’ due to the nature of their transformations- coinciding in time with the “fin-de- siècle” changes that opened and closed the twentieth century. It is of interest to investigate the terms in which these relations are expressed, the functions that the languages with which politics is constituted, their quarries and their uses fulfil within the political community. In this inquiry, the place of contingency is fundamental. On the one hand, in a temporal register, because the project delimits as a field of study two “fin-de- siècle”. Moments experienced as critical, not only at a national level but also referenced in the horizons of important transformations of the international reality. The one between the aftermaths of the Great Depression to the Great War in the framework of the crisis of nineteenth-century liberalism. And the more contemporary one, that in the transition to the 21st century is identified with various dynamics of the end of the cycle of the second post-war´s consensus and the construction of neo-liberal political projects. On the other hand, the enquiry will address different spheres of sociopolitical processes, in both their material and symbolic aspects. In particular, the following are points of interest for the study of the articulation between language and politics. The political system, the State and the field of social representations constructed from different spheres - from those expressly defined in political terms, such as parties and trade unions, to other frameworks of institutional organization of collective action, such as those promoted by the Church, and those that refer to the intellectual field, to professional and academic knowledge.
