dc.description.abstract Understanding how human society lives and organizes itself in a dynamic and changing reality is one of the main concerns for state administrators and social policy managers, among other actors. The project includes the methodological approaches and results of the CASEN 1990-2022 Ministry of Social Development and Family, Chile; specifically the resulting documents about the life cycle of the family and gender (Jiménez de la Jara. Ramírez and Pizarro, 2008), Life Cycle and Vulnerability, Vulnerability and Poverty (Jiménez de la Jara and Briones, 2008). The reference to the concept of social vulnerability is initially selected by CEPAL (Pizarro, 2001) taking into account the challenges of the new millennium. This preference is not random and is based on the possibility of accessing data for the City of Santa Fe, Province of Santa Fe, Argentina, with an outstanding methodological selection based on the Household Panel (2004- 2023) of the Observatory Social of the National University of the Litoral. In effect, the panel methodology allows for a longitudinal analysis of the evolution of each family in contrast to the typical cross-sectional analysis that a survey entails and which provides only static and in any case comparative information, as a snapshot of reality. (Binstock, 2009).The social phenomena that challenge us are: the Family (life cycle), Social Vulnerability and Poverty, and transversally the Gender perspective. The concept of the family life cycle as an intervening variable is not new; The concern for the family as a social unit and mediator between the individual and society recognizes antecedents in Jelin, Llovet and Ramos, (1986), García and De Oliveira (1994) who begin to analyze the growing participation of women in the labor market. , visualizing internal transformations in the until then mostly traditional structure of family formation. This finding is later collected by Arriadaga (1998, 2005) to decisively address the new configurations of the Latin American family and its impact on public policies. However, the emergence of women into the labor market is not the only cause of family transformations Understanding how human society lives and organizes itself in a dynamic and changing reality is one of the main concerns for state administrators and social policy managers, among other actors.
