This final integrative project analyzes the utility of the Periodic Medical Examination (PME) as a fundamental tool for the early detection and timely treatment of occupational diseases. Within the legal framework of the Argentine Republic as of March 2026, the surveillance of worker health has become an essential pillar of prevention. I conducted a descriptive, retrospective study of 150 workers from various economic sectors in the Santa Fe region who presented with clinical findings during their annual periodic examinations—findings that necessitated further evaluation using complementary diagnostic methods to establish a definitive diagnosis. The results revealed a high prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders, primarily affecting the shoulder (22.6%) and elbow (12%), with a direct correlation between the duration of employment in a given role and the chronicity of the injuries. It is therefore concluded that the PME serves not merely to satisfy regulatory requirements, but also to facilitate early therapeutic interventions that help prevent permanent occupational disability.
